UNDERSTANDING PARENTING
Parenting is challenging and rewarding at the same time – it is perfectly normal to have doubts about becoming a parent when you were not planning on it. Just because you were not planning on this timing, does not mean that you are not capable of providing a loving home.

Adoption
UNDERSTANDING ADOPTION
Adoption is a legal, lifelong parenting relationship with a child. The birth mother (and birth father, if he’s available) create an adoption plan. It is important to know that you have options in adoption and are able to customize for an adoption plan that works best for you.
TYPES OF ADOPTION
OPEN
Open communication between you, the adoptive family, and the child. This allows for the possibility of visitation, emails, phone calls, video calls, and other forms of communication. The adoptive family will know who you are and will have your contact information.
SEMI-OPEN
This allows for communication via an adoption agent or lawyer. This means that the adopted parents will not have your contact information, but they will share updates about the child with you through the adoption agent or lawyer.
CLOSED/CONFIDENTIAL
This option means that there will not be any communication between you and the adoptive family. This option is best for those who feel as though it is best to close this chapter in their lives after the adoption is final.
